MYOKINESTHETIC THERAPY

Myokinesthetic Therapy is a revolutionary approach to musculoskeletal therapy.  Though it sounds complex, it’s much simpler than you would think.

This soft tissue/neuromuscular treatment begins by determining which nerve root level is contributing to the client’s pain. Then the muscles that belong to that nerve root are isolated and stimulated with light pressure or touch. This up-regulates or “wakes up” the nerve that has not been delivering enough stimulus to the muscles at its periphery.

Myokinesthetic stimulation has an immediate effect on tissues. Muscles that are “too tight” relax, and muscles that are “too weak” strengthen, resulting in decreased or eliminated pain and improved biomechanics.

A myokinesthetic treatment usually takes between 10-30 minutes to complete. For optimal results, your sessions should be scheduled at a frequency of twice per week for the initial 3-6 weeks of treatment. Complex cases may require more frequent visits.

Myokinesthetics can be used to treat a wide array of ailments, conditions, and pains. At Axon Movement it’s most commonly used to relieve knee/hip/back pain, sciatic pain, frozen shoulder and headaches.
