FOUNDATION TRAINING

Foundation Training has gained immense popularity in the health & wellness industry as a simple yet effective solution to eliminating back pain. Since it’s inception in 2007, foundation training has helped countless thousands of individuals recover from persistent and debilitating pain conditions.

What is it?

Foundation Training is a comprehensive full-body corrective exercise program that emphasizes strengthening the muscles that support the spine, pelvis, ribs, neck, and head - the body's “foundation.”

Due to modern lifestyle, sedentary living and poor posture, most humans are weak in these areas and are susceptible to breakdown and injury. As the “foundation of the body” the spine, pelvis, ribs, neck, and head should be the strongest regions, not the weakest.

The appeal of this system is that it can be practiced anytime and anywhere as all of the “postures” (exercises) are performed using bodyweight against gravity. Foundation Training does not require weights, props, bands, or equipment. To the untrained eye it might resemble Yoga, but in practice it differs significantly; something that usually needs to be experienced to fully understand.

How does it work?

The primary focus of Foundation Training is to train the muscles in the body that lengthen the spine and open the rib cage; a concept known as “Decompression.”

When the spine is compressed pressure from the vertebrae squeeze the discs and nerves that are located between spinal segments. The excess pressure can cause back pain, neck pain, sciatic pain, or other musculoskeletal pain. Foundation training works by removing spinal compression. This is accomplished by training the muscles that are responsible for keeping pressure off of the discs and nerves.

Other ways that Foundation Training reduces pain is by:

  • Correcting muscle imbalances that contribute to improper movement patterns.

  • Combating poor posture habits.

  • Teaching the body to carry weight in the muscles not the joints.

  • Improving joint mobility and range of motion.

  • Improving flexibility.

  • Activating nerves responsible for efficient biomechanics.

I thought my lower back would be my Achilles’ heel forever. Foundation Training took that thought out of the equation. I feel strong and flexible, and my posture is better than it has ever been. This stuff is just plain good for you.
